Islamabad, June 12, 2025: Islamabad hottest day was recorded this Wednesday as the capital endured one of its most intense heat on record. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported that temperatures reached 45 degrees Celsius, falling just shy — by 1.6°C — of the city’s all-time high of 46.6°C, recorded on June 21, 1994.

With the heat showing no signs of easing, Dr. Mohammad Hanif, a senior official from the department, shared a hopeful forecast through social media, indicating that rainfall is likely over the next few days, which could finally bring a break from the ongoing heatwave.

On the same day, disaster struck in the form of a forest fire on the Margalla Hills. The local administration was alerted and acted without delay. The relevant assistant commissioner promptly reached the site, and firefighting teams launched an operation to contain the blaze, which erupted in a densely wooded part of the hills.

An official spokesperson from the district office said that over 50 personnel were actively trying to bring the fire under control. While the reason for the fire remained unclear at the time of reporting, authorities suspect it may have been triggered by careless human behavior — such as improperly discarded cigarette butts or unauthorized bonfires, a recurring issue during dry spells.

In response, the administration has reimposed strict controls across Margalla Hills National Park and its surrounding areas. Section 144 is now fully enforced, with a complete prohibition on all open flames, barbecues, and campfires in green areas.

The public, especially families planning Eid outings, has been urged to avoid forested zones and instead choose safer locations for recreational activities. Warning signs and precautionary notices have been posted across hiking routes and park entrances.

Islamabad hottest day not only intensified the risk of wildfires but also served as a reminder of the urgent need for public cooperation in safeguarding natural areas. Authorities continue to monitor conditions closely and advise citizens to remain cautious, hydrated, and law-abiding during this period of extreme heat.
