Islamabad, 12 June 2025: PIA Signs Maintenance Deal in a move aimed at boosting its engineering services division, as Pakistan International Airlines has entered into a technical partnership with the newly launched private airline, Air Karachi.
The agreement formalized at the national carrier’s headquarters in Karachi is seen as part of PIA’s broader strategy to unlock value from its existing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) infrastructure.
According to officials familiar with the matter, the collaboration will allow Air Karachi to utilize PIA’s certified engineering services, as the national airline looks to monetize operational assets and expand its commercial footprint.

The ceremony was attended by top-level leadership from both organizations, including PIA CEO Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat and Air Karachi’s Chairman Hanif Gohar, with CEO AVM (Rtd.) Imran Majid also present.
PIA Signs Maintenance Deal not only aligns with the airline’s cost optimization initiatives but also reflects an effort to develop sustainable revenue streams beyond passenger transport.
The engineering department, equipped with international certifications, is expected to play a key role in extending services to external aviation clients in the region.
