Islamabad, June 17, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked government departments to connect Reko Diq to Pakistan’s railway system by the year 2028. This railway link will help move goods and materials more easily in the future.

While leading a meeting on railway development, the Prime Minister also told officials to create a special committee. This group will focus on finding money to upgrade Pakistan Railways and to build the railway extension to Reko Diq.

Officials shared updates on the improvement of ML-1 and ML-3 railway lines, as well as the overall plan to modernize Pakistan Railways.

The Prime Minister said railways are an important part of Pakistan’s economy because they are cheap, fast, and better for the environment. He also said that connecting Reko Diq with railways will help grow Balochistan’s mining industry and create new jobs for local people.

Many top government leaders joined the meeting of the railway link riko diq, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and other senior ministers and advisors.
