Islamabad, June 18, 2025: (Trump Postpones TikTok Ban) President Donald Trump has again delayed the TikTok ban. He granted the popular app another 90-day extension to continue operating in the United States. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on Tuesday that the president will sign an executive order to extend the deadline for TikTok to sell its U.S. business. This is the third time such an extension has been given since Trump became president in January.
“As he has said many times, President Trump does not want TikTok to go dark,” Leavitt stated. She added that the administration will use these 90 days to try and finalize a deal that ensures the safety of American user data.

Even though talks are happening, no clear updates have come out since the last extension in April. Several U.S. investors are reportedly interested in buying TikTok‘s American operations, but any deal would also need approval from Chinese regulators.
Earlier reports suggested a deal where U.S. investors would put their money into a new, U.S.-based company for TikTok. However, those talks stopped after Trump put tariffs on Chinese goods, making the deal even more complicated. The U.S. government wants TikTok’s U.S. business sold because of long-standing concerns about data privacy and national security. The app’s Chinese parent company is ByteDance, and has been closely watched for how it handles user data.
