Islamabad, June 19, 2025: The Punjab Specialized Healthcare Department has introduced new age limitations for postgraduate and fellowship medical programs.
This move essentially bars senior government-employed doctors from progressing further in their professional journeys.
As per the newly announced directive, medical professionals above the age of 40 will no longer be eligible for postgraduate education, whereas those who are 45 or older will be disqualified from pursuing a second fellowship.

The change is anticipated to notably affect veteran doctors serving in the public sector of Punjab, restricting their chances for career advancement despite their vast experience.

Healthcare workers and medical organizations have condemned the age caps as unfair, voicing disappointment that such a measure could lower morale and reduce the number of well-qualified specialists available in public hospitals nationwide.
