Islamabad, June 20, 2025: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced its decision to distribute 200 locally manufactured free smartphones to female SIM owners through a computerized lucky draw process held nationwide, including in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
This initiative follows a landmark achievement for the country, with the total number of telecom users exceeding 200 million for the first time.
“The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) proudly announces a historic milestone crossing 200 million telecom subscribers nationwide. With 150 million broadband and over 2 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) subscribers, this achievement reflects Pakistan’s accelerated digital growth and PTA’s commitment to inclusive connectivity,” a PTA press statement read.
“As part of the celebrations, mobile manufacturers have contributed 200 locally assembled smartphones to be distributed among female SIM owners through computerized balloting across Pakistan, AJK and GB,” the official statement mentioned.

In addition, PTA, in collaboration with cellular service providers (Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong, and SCO), is offering a special one-day promotional package on June 20, 2025. All mobile subscribers will receive 2GB of free internet along with 200 on-net minutes valid for 24 hours. This offer can be activated by dialing *2200# from any network.

To promote digital access, particularly among female students, PTA together with PTCL, Transworld, Nayatel, Cybernet, and Wateen, is launching free Wi-Fi services for a six-month period at selected Higher Education Commission (HEC)-recognized universities, including women’s institutions. This move aims to enhance students’ access to online learning tools and digital facilities.
Update on Smartphone Distribution
All female SIM cards owners will automatically be included in the PTA computerized draw for the free smartphones. However, PTA has not yet released any timeline for when the draw will take place. Further details will be provided once the authority announces the schedule.
