Islamabad, June 20, 2025: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approached the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) to obtain a legal advise on the government’s potential role in a US court case related to Dr Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently serving a sentence in an American prison.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) presided over the hearing focused on efforts for Dr Aafia Siddiqui return and release. During the session, it was disclosed that the Foreign Ministry had reached out to the AGP’s office for legal direction concerning Pakistan’s possible intervention in the matter overseas.

The AGP’s office asked for an additional 10 days to finalize and present the government’s stance. However, the court approved a shorter extension of one week. The case proceedings have now been postponed until June 25.
