Islamabad, June 23, 2025: Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has officially confirmed her role in Sardaar Ji 3 by appearing in the film’s trailer alongside Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, ending weeks of speculation about her removal from the project.
The much-anticipated trailer, released on Sunday by Diljit Dosanjh on his official social media platforms, showcased Hania Aamir as the female lead, marking her significant entry into cross-border Punjabi cinema. The film is scheduled for an overseas release on June 27, with no release planned in India due to rising political tensions.
The decision to block the film in India follows the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which heightened diplomatic rifts between the two nations. In the aftermath, nationalist groups and entertainment bodies in India called for a complete ban on Pakistani actors in Indian cinema. This led to rumors that Hania might be replaced.
However, the trailer put all speculations to rest. Hania Aamir stars alongside fellow Pakistani actors Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela, all of whom are confirmed to be part of the cast. The film’s trailer, however, is blocked on YouTube for Indian viewers, showing a message: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.”
FWICE Pressure and CBFC’s Silence
Earlier this month, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny Sardaar Ji 3 a release certificate, citing national sentiments and the presence of Pakistani talent. In response, the production team opted for no theatrical release in India, though teasers and songs remain viewable.
Social Media Fallout
Adding to the tension, Hania Aamir’s Instagram account was also reportedly blocked in India, following her comments allegedly criticizing India’s Operation Sindoor. Her presence in the film continues to stir emotions across the subcontinent, attracting both praise and criticism online.
