Islamabad, June 24, 2025: A subcommittee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Education voiced disappointment over the conclusions presented by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CIE) concerning the recent breach of O and A level examination papers. The session, led by MNA Sabheen Ghoury, convened on Monday to evaluate the matter.
CIE representatives, including Country Director Uzma Yousuf, acknowledged that there were limited leaks involving three exam papers.
One question from AS & A Level Mathematics Paper 12, fragments of two questions from Paper 42, and part of a question from Computer Science Paper 22 were reportedly circulated prior to the examinations. However, the representatives maintained that there was no indication of complete papers being leaked.

To mitigate the situation, Cambridge committed to granting full credit to candidates for the compromised questions. Despite this, members of the subcommittee expressed dissatisfaction. They denounced the report for not identifying the individuals behind the leak or explaining the breach mechanism.

MNA Ghoury emphasized that the committee seeks fair treatment for students and urged CIE to engage with both parents and students before the next session on June 30. She further stated that although a retake is not the preferred route, students choosing to sit again in October should not incur any fees. Additional proposals will be forwarded to the main committee.
