Islamabad, June 24, 2025: Popular Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has finally spoken out regarding the controversy surrounding the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming film, “Sardaar Ji 3.”
The film, whose trailer was unveiled on Sunday, has faced significant backlash in India. It is due to heightened tensions with Pakistan following recent terror attacks, leading to its release being barred domestically.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Dosanjh clarified that “Sardaar Ji 3” was filmed in February. At that time the relations between India and Pakistan were stable.

He emphasized the substantial financial investment by producers, stating, “Producers ka bohut paisa laga hua hain (Producers have invested a lot of money). He further says, when this film was being made, nothing like this was happening.
” Dosanjh reiterated his support for the makers’ decision to release the film overseas. He acknowledges that the current geopolitical situation is beyond their control.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification for “Sardaar Ji 3” due to the inclusion of Pakistani actors.
Consequently, the film will now have an international release on June 27, 2025, bypassing Indian cinemas.
Despite the ongoing criticism, Dosanjh praised Hania Aamir’s professionalism, stating, “She’s very professional. I respect her work and her privacy.”
