Islamabad, June 27, 2025: Pakistan Railways has announced a significant reduction of 30 coaches across 16 of its passenger trains nationwide, a decision attributed to a persistent shortage of passenger carriages. A recent notification issued by the department confirms the widespread impact on major routes.

Affected services include prominent trains such as Khyber Mail, Tezgam, Hazara Express, Awam Express, Karachi Express, Millat Express, Zakaria Express, and Fareed Express.

The cutback also extends to Karakoram Express, Subak Raftar, Shah Hussain Express, Pakistan Express, Islamabad Express, and Sukkur Express, all of which will now operate with fewer coaches in their standard configurations.

Further changes impact the Bolan Mail, which runs between Quetta and Karachi. Railway officials confirmed that the Bolan Mail will now operate with only 9 coaches instead of its previous 12.

Moreover, the train has reverted to its earlier schedule of running merely twice a week, despite Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi’s announcement on March 25 in Quetta that the Bolan Mail would commence daily operations from April 1. This commitment has yet to be fulfilled, adding to the challenges faced by commuters.
