Islamabad, June 28, 2025: The federal government is preparing to revise upward the fixed charges for domestic gas consumers, effective July 1.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has decided to keep gas tariffs unchanged to safeguard household consumers, with only the fixed charges in the domestic category being modified to recover the asset costs.

As per the approved proposal submitted by the Petroleum Division, which requested endorsement for an updated natural gas pricing framework for the fiscal year 2025–26, the fixed fee for consumers previously paying Rs. 400 has been revised to Rs. 600, according to insiders.

Consumers who earlier paid Rs. 1,000 as a fixed fee will now be charged Rs. 1,500, while those who were paying Rs. 2,000 will see their charge rise to Rs. 3,000, sources further said.

The revised fixed charges will come into force from July 1, subject to the federal cabinet’s endorsement of the ECC’s decision.
