Islamabad – July 1, 2025: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider has issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the 6th Muharram procession to be held in Sector I-9/1, Islamabad. The plan aims to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and public safety during the religious gathering.

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP), the procession will commence from House No. 184, pass through Street No. 22, and conclude at Imambargah Jafaria. In view of the procession, several roads in the vicinity will remain closed to general traffic.

The service road turn at I-9/1 and Street No. 18 adjacent to Imambargah will remain closed throughout the duration of the procession. Commuters have been advised to use IJ Principal Road, Warsak Road via I-9 Markaz, and Mangal Bazaar as alternative routes.

CTO Zeeshan Haider has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the traffic police and avoid illegal parking along the procession route. “All vehicles should be parked in designated parking areas. Any unauthorized parking will lead to strict action including towing of vehicles,” he stated.

More than 16,000 security personnel, including traffic police, Rangers, lady officers, and volunteers, have been deployed across the federal capital to maintain order during Muharram processions. Walk-through gates, barriers, and metal detectors are being installed along the routes to ensure security.

The ITP has urged the public to stay informed through official helplines and announcements. The department has also requested citizens to plan alternate routes in advance and allow extra travel time due to traffic diversions.
