Islamabad, July 3, 2025: Pakistan Railways on Wednesday revealed an increase in ticket prices for passenger, express, and mail trains, marking the second hike within two weeks.
As per a notification issued, Pakistan Railways will implement a 2 percent increase in fares starting from July 4 for passenger and express trains. The 2 percent rise will also apply to advance reservations, according to the notification.
This move has been attributed to the surging prices of fuel, including diesel. An official stated that Pakistan Railways had been suffering a monthly deficit of nearly Rs109 million due to the escalating diesel costs.
Instructions have been sent to the Director of IT and Divisional Superintendents (DS) to enforce the revised fares.
