Islamabbad, July 3, 2025: The vehicle registration system of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has remained non-operational for the past two days, leaving thousands of citizens stranded in scorching heat across major cities.

Officials from the Excise Department stated that the disruption is due to a major system revamp and software upgrade. The department is updating its internal system to align with newly revised tax rates, which has temporarily halted all vehicle registration-related services.

Citizens in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and other cities have faced significant inconvenience as they are unable to process services such as vehicle registration, ownership transfers, number plate issuance, and motor tax payments.

Angry applicants criticized the poor planning, saying upgrades should have been carried out during public holidays to avoid such disruption. “It’s unbearable to visit again and again in this heat,” said a visitor at the Lahore office.

The Director of Excise has assured that the system will likely resume by tomorrow, asking the public to remain calm. In the meantime, people are advised to check official updates before visiting excise offices to avoid wasted trips.
