Islamabad, July 3, 2025: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important reminder for overseas Pakistanis visiting the country. Now, visitors can register their mobile phones for up to 120 days on every visit to Pakistan. This means you can use your phone in Pakistan without paying any FBR tax.

The process is simple and fully online. You do not need to visit any office. Just register through the PTA DIRBS portal. This free service makes it easy for travellers and overseas Pakistanis to stay connected when they come home.

How to Register

  • First, visit the DIRBS portal and sign up or log in. Then choose either “Individual – Pak (Travelled on Visa)” or “Individual – Foreigner” based on your status.
  • Enter your passport number, arrival date (as shown in your entry stamp), mobile number, and email address.
  • Next, click “Apply for COC (Certificate of Compliance)” and select “Temporary Registration for Overseas Pakistani.”
  • You will then enter your phone’s IMEI number. Dial *#06# on your phone to find it or check the phone’s box.
  • After entering all the details and uploading any required documents, submit your application.
  • If eligible, your phone will be registered free of cost for up to 120 days.
