Islamabad, July 3, 2025: Pakistanis travelling through Ecuador must now get a transit visa before boarding. The new rule is in place for 45 countries, including Pakistan.

Before this, travellers could connect flights in Ecuador without a visa if they stayed inside the airport. Now, all passengers from visa-required countries must get a Visa de Transeúnte.

This transit visa is for people who only need to change flights. You cannot leave the airport or clear immigration. It usually covers up to 72 hours.

Who Must Apply?

Anyone with a Pakistani passport flying through Quito or Guayaquil must get this visa in advance.

Don’t Risk It

No visa means airlines can stop you from boarding. You may also be refused entry at the airport.

Check routes carefully if you are travelling soon. Avoid airlines that connect through Ecuador if you don’t have time for the visa processing.

It is important to always check the latest rules before booking as they change fast. For help, reach out to the Ecuador Embassy in Pakistan to avoid any trouble at the last minute.
