Islamabad, July 4, 2025: The Senate Standing Committee on Communications has taken serious notice of alleged multi-billion rupee corruption in NHA projects, specifically in the Rajanpur to Dera Ghazi Khan road construction under PSDP 2025–26.
Committee Chairman Senator Pervaiz Rasheed has summoned senior officials from the Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority (NHA) to appear on July 8, 2025, and provide a complete briefing on PSDP projects No. 23 and 25. These projects include the controversial four-lane 121.5 km Indus Highway (N-55) funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
As per reports, Rs. 1.5 billion was misappropriated before any physical work began. Additionally, over Rs. 5 billion irregularities have surfaced in land compensation payments for the Rajanpur to DG Khan and DG Khan to Dera Ismail Khan sections of the Indus Highway.

The committee has demanded:
- Full expenditure breakdown and physical progress
- Status of land acquisition and affected individuals
- Compensation details for all landowners
These findings mark a major NHA corruption scandal in national infrastructure projects and raise concerns over transparency in PSDP 2025-26 development schemes.
