Islamabad, July 4, 2025: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is launching a major aviation overhaul with new airport projects in Mirpur (Azad Kashmir), Dera Ismail Khan, and Hyderabad. These developments aim to improve air connectivity across underserved regions.
In a strategic move, land acquisition for the D.I. Khan airport has begun, while the Mirpur airport feasibility report is near completion. These initiatives will address long-standing transportation gaps in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas.
For Hyderabad, authorities have been directed to restart commercial flight operations and establish an aviation training institute to build skilled manpower for the growing aviation sector.
In a parallel development, the Sukkur Airport is set for complete reconstruction. Once revamped, it will operate as a regional hub for northern Sindh, expanding access and streamlining air travel for nearby districts.
International aviation experts from Japan and Switzerland are part of the planning team, ensuring global standards in infrastructure and design.
