RAWALPINDI – JULY 8, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally inaugurated the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Flyover at Khawaja Corporation Chowk, Adiala Road, and the GPO Chowk Underpass in Saddar, Rawalpindi, marking a significant step toward easing traffic congestion in the city.
The Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Flyover, constructed at a cost of PKR 2.3 billion, was completed in a record time of just 120 days. The flyover spans 1,915 feet in length and 52 feet in width, featuring dual 22-foot-wide service roads on both sides. According to officials, the flyover is designed to accommodate up to 80,000 to 300,000 vehicles daily, providing direct connectivity between Adiala Road, GT Road, Ring Road, and Chakri Motorway. The project is expected to significantly reduce bottlenecks and travel time on one of Rawalpindi’s busiest routes.

In addition to the flyover, CM Maryam Nawaz also inaugurated the GPO Chowk Underpass, part of the Mall Road signal-free corridor project. The underpass is a 1-kilometer-long, dual-barrel tunnel built at a cost of PKR 4.6 billion.
