Islamabad, July 10, 2025: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has decided not to offer summer classes in 2025 leaving many final-year students worried about their studies and degrees. The decision was taken in a meeting of Deans and Heads of Departments led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal on July 8, 2025. The meeting was focused on semester result submissions, the summer session, and hostel closures.

Most faculty members opposed offering the summer courses, saying there was not enough time. They pointed out that the spring semester was already extended due to student strikes, and the results will be finalized by the third week of July, leaving no time for summer classes.

Though some departments, including Law, English, and Microbiology, supported summer courses to help students complete their degrees, the majority rejected the proposal. The House decided against holding summer classes, citing academic impracticality.

It was also decided that hostels would remain closed during summer for repair work, which students had been demanding for a long time.

This decision has upset many students especially those in their last semester. A student said, “As a student of Quaid-i-Azam University, I strongly condemn the administration’s unjust decision of not offering summer courses this year.”

Many students are accused the administration and certain faculty members of creating an environment of favoritism and personal bias. “The current situation at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) is deeply concerning, as students are bearing the brunt of systemic failures within the administration and certain faculty members,” another student said.

Students argue that many are intentionally failed, forcing them to retake courses during summer, paying extra fees—an act they call “blatant injustice” affecting both their academic progress and finances.
