Islamabad, July 10, 2025: In a dramatic contest in Dallas of San Francisco Unicorns vs MI New York, filled with endless twists, where the defending champions MI New York narrowly defeated last season’s runners-up Unicorns by two wickets.
Trent Boult stole the spotlight with his bowling figures of 2 for 19, and more importantly, his two consecutive sixes during the tense chase of 132, guiding MI New York to triumph and into Qualifier 2, sending Unicorns out of the tournament.
MI New York will now lock horns with Texas Super Kings to determine who earns the right to challenge Washington Freedom in the MLC 2025 final.
San Francisco Unicorns struggled right from the outset, slipping to 16 for 5 within the powerplay. The major shift came through Xavier Bartlett, who led his team to a competitive 131 with a blazing 44 off 24 balls.

MI New York appeared in control during the chase with a solid 43-run opening partnership, but Matthew Short’s triple strikes triggered their collapse, and Hassan Khan’s two double-wicket overs further boosted the Unicorns’ comeback. MI New York needed 24 off 19 deliveries with only two wickets left.
The decisive moment arrived when Boult smashed two massive sixes off Hassan, reducing the target to just five from nine balls. MI New York wrapped it up smoothly.

Matthew Short dismissed both Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran in the same over in this San Francisco Unicorns vs MI New York MLC 2025 Eliminator. Boult and Nosthush Kenjige dismantled Unicorns’ top four cheaply, with Boult taking key scalps and also grabbing a tricky catch.
Bartlett later rescued the innings alongside Hammad Azam and Brody Couch, accelerating from 50 to 100 in four overs. Despite a rain delay, the chase wasn’t shortened, and MI New York managed to prevail after several tense moments.
