Islamabad, July 11, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an alert regarding fresh spells of monsoon rain across the country from July 11 to 17, with intermittent heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several regions.
According to the advisory, moist currents are entering most parts of the country and are expected to intensify by July 13, while a westerly wave is also likely to enter Pakistan on the evening of the same day. Under the combined influence of these systems, widespread weather changes are anticipated.
Region-wise Forecast:
- Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan (July 11–17): Areas including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, Mirpur, Diamer, Astore, Skardu, and Hunza will witness scattered rain with thunder, with a chance of very heavy rainfall at times.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (July 11–17): Cities such as Swat, Chitral, Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, and Bannu may experience strong winds, thunder, and scattered showers, while isolated spots could face heavy downpours.
- Islamabad & Punjab (July 11–17): Regions like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and DG Khan will see intermittent rain and thunderstorms, with some areas vulnerable to urban flooding due to heavy rain spells.
- Balochistan (July 11, and July 13–16): Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, and other northeast and southern parts are forecasted to receive occasional rain, with heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
- Sindh (July 15–17): Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas divisions are likely to experience moderate rain with thunder and gusty winds.

Possible Impacts and Precautions:
- Urban flooding is likely in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad between July 13–17.
- Landslides and road blockages may occur in Murree, Galiyat, and upper KP, especially in Swat, Dir, Chitral, and Kohistan.
- Farmers, tourists, and commuters are advised to plan their activities accordingly and stay updated with weather alerts.
