Islamabad, July 13, 2025: In a decisive move to enhance Lahore airport safety, the Punjab government has launched a comprehensive operation to eliminate bird hazards around airport zones. Acting on Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directives, the administration has imposed ‘No Bird Zones’ in critical areas, including Lahore Eastern Bypass, Manawan Hospital, Dahori Wala, PKLI, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Ichhra, and Chah Miran.

The Punjab Wildlife Department, Environment Protection Authority, and district administration have been ordered to strictly enforce bird control measures. These include shutting down illegal slaughterhouses and poultry farms near airports, banning open waste dumping, and ensuring proper disposal systems for bakeries and industries such as leather processing and tanneries.

Covered bins will now be mandatory, while open washing of animal hides and rooftop bird feeding are strictly banned. The public has also been prohibited from flying large numbers of pigeons and feeding birds at shrines to minimize bird gatherings near airport zones.

Wildlife Rangers have been mobilized to act immediately under official notifications. Strict action, including arrests and fines under the Punjab Wildlife Act, will be taken against violators.
