ISLAMABAD – July 13, 2025: The federal govt. has decided to transform the Frontier Constabulary (FC) into a nationwide federal law enforcement agency, granting it expanded jurisdiction across all provinces and administrative regions under the new name Federal Constabulary.
According to official sources, this major restructuring will be implemented following amendments to the Frontier Constabulary Act of 1915, which have been approved by the federal cabinet. A presidential ordinance will soon be issued to formalize the changes.

Sources further revealed that the newly rebranded Federal Constabulary will be authorized to operate across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, as well as the Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under this reorganization, a nationwide recruitment drive will be launched for the Federal Constabulary, and regional offices will be established across Pakistan. The new force will be commanded by officers from the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), ensuring a streamlined and professionally managed internal security operation.
Defense experts have termed this move as a strategic shift towards centralized internal security, aimed at enhancing law enforcement coordination and public order nationwide.

“The establishment of the Federal Constabulary is part of broader national efforts to fortify internal stability and create a more unified federal response to security challenges,” the sources said.
The decision reflects the government’s focus on modernizing and consolidating Pakistan’s law enforcement structure to deal with contemporary threats effectively.
