Islamabad, July 14, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday that the digital invoicing system should be introduced in Urdu to make it easier and more inclusive for everyone.

A weekly progress meeting on FBR’s digitization, use of AI tools, and other improvements was held in Islamabad today under the leadership of PM Shehbaz, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The meeting was updated about progress in digital billing, e-Bilty (online goods transport record), making tax forms easier, AI-based checking system, setting up a main Command and Control Center, and a goods tracking system.

The PM appreciated the launch of easy tax return forms in Urdu and instructed that a support helpline be created to help people file their tax returns.

“Tax reforms must focus on easing the burden for the common man,” the PMO said the PM as saying.

The Prime Minister Shehbaz also asked for outside checks on all FBR changes to make sure everything stays open and fair.

Officials informed the meeting that the new online tax returns, linked to a main data system, had been made simpler and easier to understand.

The salaried group will benefit the most, with new return forms becoming available from July 15 for salaried persons, and from July 30 for others, the meeting was told. Tax return forms in Urdu for salaried people will also be available by the end of the month.

The PM ordered a countrywide information drive to guide people on how to use the new system.
