LOS ANGELES: Cricket will make its Olympic comeback at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, marking the sport’s first appearance since 1900.

Matches are set to take place at Fairgrounds Stadium in Pomena, approximately 50 kilometres from Los Angeles. The games will start from July 12, with medal matches scheduled for July 20 and July 29.

The tournament will feature six teams each in the men’s and women’s divisions, competing in the T20 format. A total of 180 players will participate, with 90 slots allocated across both categories. Each of the 12 teams can field squads of 15 players.

The competition schedule includes double-header matchdays, with no games on July 14 and July 21.

The inclusion of cricket follows the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) approval of five new sports for the 2028 Olympics, including baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, and squash.
