Islamabad, July 16, 2025: PMD has forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and other regions on July 16, 17, residents are advised to take safety measures.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted strong monsoon patterns across the country and Islamabad is expected to be among the most affected areas. On Wednesday, rain along with strong winds and thunderstorms at most places in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir is expected. Scattered rain may also occur in parts of Balochistan, Sindh and Gilgit Baltistan.
In Islamabad weather is likely to turn intense as PMD warns of heavy rainfall in some parts of the city and surrounding areas. This rainfall could lead to flooding particularly in vulnerable areas. Local authorities have been alerted and people are advised to stay indoors during intense storm hours and avoid excessive travel.

The PMD also predicts about possible unexpected flooding in streams and nullahs around the capital, particularly if rainfall continues. Murree, Galiyat and the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan to face risk of landsliding which could block roads.

Powerful winds and thunderstorms could also cause destruction to weak infrastructure such as electric poles, trees, solar panels and parked vehicles. Field crops in open fields may also be vulnerable.

According to Met, public is advised to stay updated through official channels and take necessary safety precautions. Emergency services are being alerted to prepare for possible weather related disturbances especially in and around capital.
