Islamabad, July 16: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb while discussing 37A of the Finance Act 2025 and tax frauds has assured full government cooperation and transparency to representatives from chambers of commerce and trade organisations.

The meeting focused on Section 37A of the recently introduced Finance Act 2025, in order to curb large-scale tax frauds in the country. The minister emphasised that the purpose was not to target or harass legitimate, law-abiding businesses.

While chairing the high-level meeting on Section 37A of Finance Act 2025 in Islamabad, the finance minister reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing traders’ concerns. The session also covered other related matters that have raised apprehensions among traders.

To facilitate dialogue and develop workable solutions, it was decided that a special committee will be formed under the leadership of Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production. The committee will also include Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Prime Minister’s Trade Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman, and nominated representatives from the business community and chambers.

This committee has been tasked with conducting in-depth consultations over the next 30 days and presenting consensus-based recommendations to the Prime Minister and the federal cabinet.

Business representatives openly shared their concerns and proposals during the session, and the government pledged to consider these suggestions seriously. The participants agreed to take all possible steps to address traders’ concerns.
