Islamabad, July 16, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given the go-ahead to transfer surplus teachers in the province to schools where there is a lack of staff, starting a major adjustment plan.

As per the School Education Department, the transfering process has officially started from today, with surplus teachers being moved to schools where they are needed.

The department made it clear that only teachers will be moved, while the already approved job positions in schools will stay the same.

At first, the plan aimed to move 47,000 teachers, but after demands from teacher unions and groups, the number has now been cut down to 25,000.

Officials shared that the teachers marked as surplus have already been informed. To reduce worries, the department will also let these teachers share their preferred school choices during the shifting process.
