Islamabad, July 17, 2025: Pakistan has sent its most advanced fighter jets, the JF-17 Thunder Block-III, to the United Kingdom to take part in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), one of the top military air shows in the world.

The aircraft landed at RAF Fairford, a military airbase in southern England. Along with the JF-17s, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) also sent a C-130H Hercules for transport and an IL-78MP refueling aircraft. Their arrival marks Pakistan’s proud representation at a major global aviation event.

RIAT is held every year and features air forces from over 60 countries. The event is famous for its thrilling air displays and aircraft exhibitions. This year’s theme, “Eyes in the Skies,” focuses on airborne surveillance and international safety.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani team brought along JF-17 Block-III fighter jets, the dependable C-130H, and the IL-78MP tanker. During their journey to the UK, the JF-17s were refueled in mid-air by the IL-78MP—a demanding task that highlights the strong coordination and training of the PAF team.

The JF-17 Block-III, jointly built by Pakistan and China, is a modern multi-role jet fighter. It comes with a powerful radar system and long-range missiles. The C-130H is widely used for cargo and rescue operations, while the IL-78MP plays a key role in keeping aircraft airborne for longer trips.

Pakistan’s presence at RIAT with this fleet shows its growing capability and professionalism in military aviation.
