A representative from the ICT administration announced that the Islamabad Transport Authority (AITA) ramped up vehicle inspections as part of the ongoing Vehicle Emission Testing System. Initially targeting government vehicles, the new program has now broadened to encompass private vehicles, too.
The ITA Chairman, Irfan Nawaz Memon, along with the chief traffic officer (CTO) Islamabad, visited an inspection site to evaluate the emission testing procedures. During the visit, the officials reviewed the inspection processes and monitored the status of vehicle assessments.
The ITA Chairman confirmed that the inspections of all government vehicles was actively taking place to ensure adherence.
The administration intends to set up several inspection points across the capital to assist both, the public and private vehicles. To guarantee compliance, the ITA will collaborate closely with the Islamabad traffic police.
The chairman warned that action would be taken against anyone trying to evade the emission checks or those vehicles that do not meet the standards. “We will conduct joint operations with the traffic police against owners who refuse to comply”.
