Karachi, July 19, 2025: Karachi is expected to experience heavy rains and thunderstorms as turbulent weather continues its streak across the country.
As per the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), monsoon winds are moving into Sindh, bringing rainy weather to Karachi and nearby areas on the night of July 18 until July 20.

Other districts such as Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, Badin, and Hyderabad will also see moderate to heavy rainfall.
The Met Office stated that a weather system over Rajasthan, India is moving towards southern Pakistan–Sindh–leading to the rainy weather. At the same time, a “westerly wave” is active over northern Pakistan, causing unstable weather across the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from July 21 to July 25 in Swat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar. This will increase the chance of flash floods, as well.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan
Rain and thunderstorms will plague the regions from July 20 to July 26, with some heavy showers in mountainous areas.
Punjab and Islamabad
Heavy rain will assault residents in the country’s most populated province from July 20 to July 25. Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad will be hit with heavy showers.
Islamabad will also experience turbulent weather from July 20 to July 26.
Balochistan
Showers and storms are expected from July 18 to July 19, and then from July 22 to July 25. Quetta and Zhob are most at risk of heavy rains.

Possible Impacts
- Heavy rains may cause flash floods and landslides, especially in hilly and flood-prone areas
- Urban flooding is possible in low-lying parts of major cities including Lahore and Islamabad.
- Strong winds and lightning could damage weak structures and power lines
- Residents and travelers are advised to be cautious around flood-prone areas.
