Islamabad, July 21, 2025: In a major move, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has decided to give high-speed internet and fibre-optic services to 532 schools in Islamabad.

A ministry official shared that the government now considers early education in artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and new technologies a top priority. This step is part of the Prime Minister plan to make Pakistan a “Digital Nation,” with the aim of preparing a skilled and tech-ready youth.

The official also said that efforts are being made to raise the standard of education, so that students finishing school or college are better prepared for jobs.

To help achieve this goal, a special committee has been formed to review the IT syllabus and focus more on skills that lead to employment. While education is mainly handled by provinces, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the Ministry of Education, and the National Curriculum Council are all working together to update the national syllabus. One part of this plan includes revising AI and IT courses for students in grades 6 to 12.
