Islamabad, July 21, 2025: The Lahore traffic police have launched a citywide crackdown on motorcyclists after the deadline for mandatory helmet use expired, stepping up efforts to ensure road safety.

Checkpoints have been established across major arteries of the city, including Mall Road, Ferozepur Road, and Jail Road, as officers strictly monitor compliance with the helmet law. In just 48 hours, more than 26,000 motorcyclists faced hefty fines for riding without helmets, according to a traffic department official.

This crackdown comes as part of a broader campaign launched earlier this year. So far in 2024, over 150,000 violators have been penalized for disregarding helmet regulations. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore emphasized that the campaign is yielding results, with nearly 90% of motorcyclists now complying with the safety rule.

“Road safety is non-negotiable. We will continue enforcement until every rider wears a helmet,” said a traffic police spokesperson.

Model roads and major highways remain the focus of the enforcement drive, while non-compliant riders are being fined and educated about the risks of riding without protective gear.
