Islamabad, July 23, 2025: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has announced a 30% increase in the Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) for government employees from Basic Salary Scale (BPS) 1 to 22. This was officially confirmed through a notification from the AJK Finance Department.

As per the notification, this revised allowance will be effective from July 1, 2025. Employees will start getting their increased pay from August 2025. The new amount will be calculated using the basic salary as of June 30, 2022. However, those who joined government service after July 1, 2022, will get the benefit based on the 2017 pay scale instead of the latest one.

For All Government Employees

This raise will apply to all permanent government employees including those working in offices, field jobs, and technical positions. But this does not include employees hired after July 2022 under the 2022 pay scale.

This decision comes at a time when rising prices are putting pressure on people’s income. The DRA is aimed at reducing the difference in pay among employees from different departments and positions.

Earlier this month, the federal government has also approved a 30% increase in the same allowance. AJK’s decision brings its policy in line with the center and helps reduce the gap between salaries of different civil servants.
