Islamabad, July 25, 2025: In a major step for public convenience, the Sindh administration has officially scrapped parking fees on all roads throughout Karachi. An official notice has been released, stopping the collection of parking fees in all 25 towns of the city.
As per the notification, charges for parking will now only apply in specific spots, like certain plazas, designated plots, or properties owned by the council. The Karachi Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) have been told to stop collecting these fees and make sure the decision is fully followed.
This action came after clear instructions from Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, under whose guidance the Local Government Department has started a proper drive to remove all illegal parking fees.

The notice clearly warns that strict steps will be taken against anyone or any group found taking unapproved parking money from the public. This decision adds to an earlier rule placed on KMC-managed roads and now stretches to every street under town administration.

The document also states that only the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has the right to charge parking fees, and that too, only in approved and marked locations. No other department or body is now allowed to ask for parking charges anywhere in Karachi.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, while sharing thoughts on this change, said the step was taken for public benefit. He added that no organization is now allowed to collect fees for roadside parking. Municipal Commissioners have been asked to enforce the order strictly, and any violations will be dealt with legally.
