Islamabad, July 28, 2025: After Samsung’s mishandling of the One UI 7 rollout, many believed that the unexpected launch of One UI 8—built on the yet-to-be-released Android 16 and introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7—was just an attempt at recovery. But now, it appears this move signals the beginning of a new Samsung One UI update strategy.

Reports suggest that Samsung is now changing how it rolls out One UI updates, with a stronger focus on its foldable devices. Well-known leak source Ice Universe claims that the company will keep giving top priority to its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series for future software rollouts.

This means upcoming foldable models will debut with the newest Android version already installed, whereas the Galaxy S line will get a more gradual One UI refresh.

Still, in a different sense, Samsung might be favoring the Galaxy S range too—by improving the overall system performance and user feel before pushing the update to S devices. So even if the foldables receive the initial wave of new UI layouts, AI tools and other improvements, the S models will benefit from a more stable and thoroughly-tested software build.

This shift in the Samsung One UI update strategy could change how users experience updates across both flagship lines.
