Islamabad, July 28, 2025: A private TV news anchor has gone missing under unexplained circumstances along with her family in the Babusar Top region of Gilgit on Sunday.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesperson has confirmed that the family traveled to Babusar Top on July 21. Since then, no communication has been established with them.
Sources revealed that the missing individuals are Khyber News TV presenter Shabana, her husband Liaquat Ali, and their children Aimal, Iman along with two others. After receiving the alert, emergency teams began a search mission.
Rescue officials are employing advanced tools and trained dogs to trace the whereabouts of the missing family. Authorities stated that the operation is in progress, although the area’s difficult terrain continues to pose obstacles.

Over 200 stranded tourists have been successfully evacuated from the affected areas and provided temporary shelter by the army and local residents. Food, medical aid, and emergency supplies are being delivered on-site.
In addition to human loss, the region’s infrastructure has been heavily impacted. Landslides damaged fiber optic cables, electricity poles, and key roadways leading to Babusar and adjoining valleys. Road clearance operations are ongoing to restore access and communication.
