Islamabad 28 July: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecasted monsoon rains from Monday through Thursday, warning of possible flooding in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK).

According to a notification from NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), areas including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Bagh in AJK, are likely to receive significant rainfall.

The NDMA cautioned that the rain could cause flash floods, and landslides are possible in mountainous regions. Authorities have been directed to stay on alert, ensure equipment and personnel are ready, and take all necessary precautions.

In Chitral Valley—particularly Buni and Reshun—rain combined with glacial melt may raise water levels in the River Chitral. Urban flooding is also anticipated in Muzaffarabad and Bagh due to intense downpours.
