Islamabad 28 July: President Donald Trump has announced that the U.S. will lead an international effort to open “food centers” in Gaza to combat widespread hunger caused by Israel’s aid blockade.
According to media reports Trump said the centers will be open-access with “no fences,” funded by U.S. resources and support from other nations.
While reaffirming that Hamas bears blame for delaying aid by holding hostages, Trump acknowledged that Israel also has “a lot of responsibility” for limiting humanitarian relief—contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent claim that there is “no starvation in Gaza.”
Trump urged Hamas to release hostages to facilitate aid negotiations and warned that without swift action, Israel could escalate its campaign in Gaza.
