Islamabad, July 29, 2025: Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to go down from August 1, 2025, offering a slight relief to consumers amid rising living costs.
According to a report by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), petrol may see a cut of Rs. 6.82 per liter, while high-speed diesel (HSD) could be reduced by Rs. 1.68 per liter. This decline in fuel prices in Pakistan is mainly due to falling international oil rates and lower ex-refinery prices.
After the adjustment, the new rates are likely to be Rs. 265.33 per liter for petrol and Rs. 282.67 per liter for diesel. The decrease also allows the government space to reintroduce a petroleum levy of Rs. 2.50 per liter on both products.

The AHL note further highlights that Brent crude averaged $68.75 per barrel, and WTI stood at $65.98 per barrel from July 16 to 31, 2025. During this period, the exchange rate was recorded at Rs. 284.25 against the US dollar, showing a minor fluctuation of 0.1% compared to earlier figures.
While the drop in petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan may offer short-term relief, the impact of the proposed levy could offset the benefit in the coming weeks.
