Islamabad 1 August: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs754.4 billion in July 2025, surpassing its assigned monthly target of Rs748 billion and achieving 100.9% of the goal, according to official data released on Friday.
The gross revenue collection for the month stood at Rs835.5 billion, with the following breakdown:
- Direct Taxes: Rs323.6 billion
- Sales Tax: Rs352.7 billion
- Federal Excise Duty (FED): Rs46.2 billion
- Customs Duty: Rs113 billion
Refunds amounting to Rs81.1 billion were issued during the month, resulting in the net collection figure of Rs754.4 billion.
Despite the positive start to the new fiscal year, the FBR concluded the previous financial year (FY25) with a shortfall of Rs178 billion against the revised annual target. The gap has raised concerns over the government’s ability to meet its broader fiscal targets and commitments under international lending programs.

Officials termed the July performance encouraging and attributed it to improved enforcement, broadening of the tax base, and digitization initiatives. However, they acknowledged that sustaining momentum will be crucial in the coming months to bridge the annual revenue gap and support fiscal consolidation efforts.
