Islamabad, Aug 2, 2025: The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has reported that 23 bottled water brands are unsafe for drinking because of bacterial presence or harmful chemical substances.

In a survey conducted during the second quarter of 2025 (April–June), PCRWR gathered 203 bottled and mineral water samples from 21 key cities nationwide.

Out of these, 11 brands were found to contain excessive sodium content making them unsuitable for consumption. These brands include New Mehran, Aqua 111, Nice Pure Max, Pure Drinking Water, Logic, Himalya Cool, Natural Pure Life, Natural, Forever Bottled Drinking Water, Drinkly Pure Drinking Water and Qudrat Water.

Four brands; Atco Drinking Water, Aqua Nest, Pani and New Mountain were found to contain arsenic levels above the safe threshold. Meanwhile, one brand named Vey Forever had a potassium concentration that surpassed the allowed limit.

Furthermore, nine brands were found to be biologically contaminated, making them harmful for use. These included Noble Pure Drinking Water, Aqua 111, Clear, Wah Water, Nice Pure Max, Aqua King Bottled Water, Maa Jee, Freshin Drinking Water and Iceland.

The findings by PCRWR stress the persistent dangers linked with certain bottled water brands, calling for tighter supervision and better quality checks to protect public well-being.
