Islamabad, Aug 2, 2025: The United States has temporarily restricted its officials from visiting luxury hotels in Karachi following reports of a possible security threat, as per a statement issued by the US State Department on Friday.
A safety notice released by the US Consulate General in Karachi revealed that authorities had been alerted to a likely threat aimed at luxury hotels within the city. As a safeguard, US government officials have been directed to avoid such venues until further notice.
The State Department clarified that when there are credible safety warnings, it may limit the movements of its personnel to certain overseas spots such as hotels, markets, shopping malls and restaurants.

The warning further urged individuals to avoid densely packed locations, keep a low profile and stay cautious particularly in places favored by international visitors and people from Western countries.
At present, the State Department’s travel guidelines for Pakistan advise American citizens to reconsider trips to the country, due to ongoing threats of terrorism and the risk of armed conflict.
