Islamabad 4 August: Pakistan on Monday issued a strong condemnation of the recent storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli ministers and settler groups, escorted by heavily armed Israeli police, calling it a blatant provocation and a violation of international law.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to denounce the act, calling it “a sacrilege against one of Islam’s holiest sites” and “an affront to the faith of over a billion Muslims.”

“This sacrilege against one of Islam’s holiest sites is not only an affront to the faith of over a billion Muslims but also a direct assault on international law and the collective conscience of humanity,” the Prime Minister wrote.

He warned that Israel’s “systematic provocations” and “reckless calls for annexation” were pushing the region closer to another cycle of violence and instability.

“These shameless actions are deliberately inflaming tensions in Palestine and the wider region, threatening to plunge the Middle East into deeper conflict,” he added.
