Islamabad, Aug 4, 2025: The Karachi Traffic Police is getting ready to introduce a smart traffic monitoring system that will track rule violations using high-resolution surveillance cameras instead of traffic wardens on the streets.

Named the Faceless Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS), this project is set to start shortly across Karachi. This digital enforcement system will automatically catch traffic offenses through installed cameras. Once a violation occurs, a digital fine (e-challan) including photographic proof will be issued and mailed to the registered address of the driver.

Karachi Traffic Police digital enforcement system aims to promote transparency, curb bribery, and upgrade the current traffic rule enforcement method. “No more disputes—every fine will come with visual evidence,” states the official tagline, emphasizing fairness and clear responsibility.

The plan is designed to simplify the process for the public and act firmly against repeat lawbreakers. Those who clear their fine within 14 days will receive a 50% rebate, whereas delays beyond 21 days will result in a doubled penalty.

Failure to settle fines within 90 days could result in the suspension of the driver’s permit. If unpaid for six months, the person’s CNIC may also be deactivated.
