Lahore – August 4, 2025: The Government of Punjab has announced that a one-minute silence will be observed across the province on August 5, 2025, at 10:00 am, to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal.
An official notification issued by the Punjab Home Department (No. E&A(HD)14-1/2025) directed all relevant provincial departments, including the Punjab Police, Prisons, Child Protection Bureau, Forensic Science Agency, Civil Defence, Agriculture Food & Drug Authority, and Border Military Police, to ensure compliance with this observance.

The notification, referring to a circular from the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Saffron, Islamabad, instructed all concerned officials to observe a one-minute silence at 10:00 am sharp on August 5, 2025, as a symbolic act of support for the oppressed people of Kashmir.

Furthermore, all departments have been instructed to provide pictorial evidence of the observance, which must be submitted to the Home Department via email ([email protected]) or WhatsApp (0321-8725680) by 12:00 pm on August 5, 2025.
Section Officer (General) of the Home Department, Muhammad Naeem Tahir, emphasized strict adherence to these instructions to ensure province-wide participation in this solidarity campaign.
Youm-e-Istehsal is observed annually to mark India’s revocation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, which stripped Jammu & Kashmir of its special constitutional status. Pakistan observes this day to highlight the plight of the Kashmiri people and to call for international attention to the ongoing human rights violations in the region.
