Islamabad, Aug 5, 2025: The Punjab government is evaluating a plan to add service ducts to key road development schemes in Lahore and other urban areas to prevent repeated digging of roads.
A representative from the Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering Department shared that a dedicated team will soon be set up to engage with all related stakeholders, including the Safe Cities Authority and telecom service providers.
The aim is to finalize the correct dimensions and positioning of service ducts to guarantee their usefulness for future installations. He highlighted that repeated road cutting causes major disruption to the public.

As per the official, integrating service ducts into roadworks will save funds, enhance public infrastructure, and increase the durability of roads.
He further mentioned that projects throughout Punjab are moving ahead swiftly, focusing on long-term value and durability. The planning also follows green policies to promote eco-friendly and people-centered urban development.
