Islamabad, Aug 6, 2025: In a major development for overseas employment, Kuwait resumes recruitment from Pakistan, officially ending a ban that lasted nearly 15 years. The announcement has opened new doors for Pakistani skilled and semi-skilled workers seeking opportunities in the Gulf region.
The breakthrough came after a high-level Kuwaiti delegation, headed by Ambassador Sameeh Essa Johar Al Dafiri, visited Islamabad and met with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Both sides agreed to restart hiring, particularly in sectors such as transportation, infrastructure, and healthcare.
Who Can Apply?
The demand for labor includes a variety of skilled roles. Sectors currently seeking Pakistani talent include:
- Drivers (heavy and light)
- Electricians
- Welders
- Carpenters
- Technicians
- Healthcare staff
- Construction workers
This move is part of Kuwait’s broader strategy to enhance its workforce and support major development projects, while also helping Pakistan reduce unemployment and boost remittance inflows.
Digital Visa System Introduced
To ensure transparency and protect job seekers, both nations have agreed to implement a fully digital visa system. This will eliminate the need for middlemen and prevent exploitation.
Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized, “The goal is a secure, online recruitment system that benefits the Pakistani workforce and provides equal access to opportunity.”
Government Guidelines for Applicants
Pakistani job seekers should take the following steps:
- Register with the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BEOE)
- Stay away from illegal agents or commission-based intermediaries
- Follow official announcements regarding job postings and eligibility
The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis is also preparing to launch a dedicated job portal with verified listings to ensure a safe and efficient hiring process.
